Do you know how many “miles per gallon” your home gets? Does it matter how much it costs to operate your home? Did you consider fuel cost when you bought your car? So why not evaluate your homes “fuel efficiency”?
Everybody loves a survey, especially when it ends with a report which compares you to the other folks in your demographic. A new small business is here to help! This Seattle based company (ActiveRain isn't the only cool Seattle company) began as Evoworx and debuted in October '09 as EnergySavvy.com, with an easy to navigate website that allows you to enter a zip code, fill out a short, simple survey and then provides you with estimated savings and suggestions for improving your energy usage.
Add to that an easy to search list of rebates and credits available in your state (which can be parsed to provide only initiatives for the energy guzzling appliance you are considering replacing) to assist you with making those changes and you're cooking with gas...at least metaphorically.
Did I mention that there are lists of local contractors for you to interview and a blog that talks about how to upgrade appliances, how to “green” your home and how to save money? It is an easy to navigate and attractive website and, seriously, how can you go wrong with an adorable dinosaur as your logo?
~Just so you know, I have no affiliation with anyone at EnergySavvy or even the contractors who work the Raleigh / Durham / Chapel Hill area (or your area for that matter) but I love to see a small business gain traction and offer folks an easy way to start thinking about creative ways to save money, save energy and, better yet, possibly get paid to do it!~

This is a great find, SarahGray. I am going to reblog it.
Interesting concept. I like how they do it in the UK, where each home for sale has an energy efficiency rating as part of their listing.
Sarah,
thanks for the info, I have seen many green things and energy efficiency these last days, I should digg more about it, take care !
Sarah, Wonderful tool, I'm going to try it for myself. Thanks
Sarah,
Thanks for the tip. It sounds like it provides useful information. I'll check out their website tomorrow.
Its very good information Sarah and really useful concept. I will definitely go to the site and check it for myself. I will see whats my home's fuel efficiency and how can i increase it. I will also let people know about it if i found it really useful. Thanks for the sharing this innovative and useful idea.

Thanks for the reblog Jane, Love having more opportunities to spread the word!
Steve, yes, I'm aware of that practice. That only works if there is a accepted standard. We aren't there yet so sites like EnergySavvy at least get folks thinking and headed in the same direction!
Ray, this is a fun site to begin your research! Especially because your personal "score" can appeal to the competitive side of human nature!
Maureen, Enjoy! Let me know if you "beat" my score! ;-)
George, it's certainly a great place to start thinking about saving energy and money. Thanks for stopping by.
Patrik, thanks for stopping by and I hope you do find the site helpful and share it with others. I will share with others that Patriks website, as linked in his comment, is for a vitamin supplement for body builders. At least you will know what you are "checking out" if choose to click it.
SarahGray, I will check this out, looks like it would be a helpful benefit for the consumers.
Fun, I scored in the 90% for energy efficiency for Saline. yes I can improve, I have an old refrigerator in the basement and old freezer in the garage for over flow.
again...thanks!
Missy, that's what I got dinged on! Gotta "upgrade" my extra refrigerator! ;-) Still proud to be in the top of the class!
Good morning Sarah,
What a wonderful site! I have a client I need to send this too!! Thanks for the tip.
EnergySavvy.com is an awesome site. First learned about it earlier this year. Thanks for the reminder--going to add it to a link on our Web site.
SarahGray - this looks like a wonderful tool to share with consumers. I am going to share it however I can. Thanks for passing it along - I found this becuase of Jane's reblog.
Jeff
SarahGray - You are as always on top of things, witness this great post! Thanks for sharing and I will give it to all my students.
Keep Smiling - Rossi
SarahGray That is an interesting tool - later today I plan to try on ZIP codes where age and size are decidedly different
Karen, would love to hear the results! I tried it on two very different homes in two different states for which I already had a good idea what the result should show. It yielded results I was comfortable with!
Rossi, glad to see you here! Welcome to AR!
Jeff, as ever, my pleasure! Hope it provides the experience it did for me!
Aaron, indeed. I forgot to do that but have added it to my links at your reminder!
Dorie, tips are great aren't they? Especially when we can share with follks across all of our markets!
Wow! Cool tip! My company, Sereno Group, is focused on green business practices and homes, as much as possible. I'll forward this along to the management team.
A wonderful tool, thank you for sharing this with your peers. Make it a great day and may your business be blessed as well.
