The Onion Says It's So...

I was going to begin a new marketing strategy this week because it has always seemed so successful for other Realtors.

Then I saw this article by Sam Cone in today's Onion called I Wasn't Going To Buy This House Until I Saw The Realtor's Headshot On The Sign. I think he might be joking but I wanted your opinion. Should I go with my new strategy?

Buy This House and I'll Remove The Sign

SarahGray - I think that just might work!  I'm a big fan of The Onion, by the way.  :)

SarahGray - I smile and love this. Crying tears from the onion. :)

My only question is will you be using 'life-size' or 'larger-than-life' for the sign? ;-)

Jason and Claude, I had to laugh at the article...in case anyone wondered if our pictures on everything inspires trust...well, there is one man's opinion...

Michael, I think life size is scary enough but I was thinking of going with 30' tall....if I'm gonna do it...do it right!

SarahGray:  The Onion!!  I am totally proud of you!!  Our kids turned us on to it a long time ago .. and it's a family favorite!  Does that tell you something about our family's sense of humor???  But regarding the sign ... I'm thinking you need to just move it around to every location you list.  It definitely WILL catch their eye ... and they WILL remember you.

Ummmm ... maybe even positively too!  There's chance ...

That guy is soooo funny.  I love your take on it - sure why not go for it!  It would be funny to try a bunch of wacky stuff like that.  You KNOW the media would be all over you girlfriend!!

BTW I'm with the onion dude about photos!  I quite using them awhile back when I hung up my cowgirl hat!

Very funny, artice, SarahGray, and he most certainly is joking.  And no, you most definitely shouldn't put your face on your signs.  Heaven forbid.  I am going to subscribe to the Onion after this.

SarahGray:  I am also one who finds reading the Onion "appealing."  As far as the sign goes... use it !  I think one of the main purposes of a sign... is to make the phone ring, and to get people inside the home.  This sign of yours should do both.  I vote for it.

The best part is I live in a town where it's hardly possible to put out a directional for all the signage "rules"...the very idea of this makes me cry with laughter...I think I need a day off.

Anna, dare ya to do a 30' banana....

Jane, so I'm guessing you wouldn't go for a sign where I could use seasonal hats etc....shucks.

Gene, why am I not surprised...I think you are my brotha from anotha motha...

Karen Anne, ok, let's do it together...you first. ;-)

As far as pictures... does your Dentist, your Accountant or your Minister have their picture on their business card ?  I am guessing not.

It'll stop traffic, in a good way and I'm sure the signage police will will have a different opinion.

I have been a fan of the onion for a long time, and I am also a fan of your new idea, I'd give it a try.

I love it! I think it is a great campaign and this may even give us ugly Realtors a campaign.
